I just did this and was charged $1.00 additional for gas prices (which Schwan’s won’t take off.) Upon finishing the order also, the computer only took $5.00 off; when I called, the customer service rep. said that the driver would take off the additional when the delivery came. So, overall the cost is $1.00 for $9.99 worth of food/treats. Not bad at all! Just thought I would let everyone know.

There was a link next to ‘delivery fee’ that said a $1.00 fuel surcharge was being added to all orders, but I did not get charged.
August 1st, 2009 at 3:50 pmWhen I signed up and placed my order it charged me for everything. The customer service rep was not sure why, but assured me someone would call me on Monday to help fix the problem.

August 18th, 2009 at 3:46 pmThis was wonderful. I just received my food ( burgers in the summer times 90%) totally free. I think the key to getting this free is to order one item that is either 9.99 or close to exactly 10.00. I was not charged for anything at all .

This also put me on an every-two-week delivery route, but I was able to request delivery only if I preorder. Thanks for the tips–love your site!

I am a former Schwans Route Mngr and have been enjoying your discussion. I agree that Schwans is way overpriced. I thought this when I was a Route Mngr-I even thought it when I received a 20% staff discount.
With all due respect, there is much more to Schwans than what you have talked about. A site called http://www.retailreality.net is a site frequented by former Route Mngrs and current employees. The discussions are very graphic, and no holds barred. Schwans has been involved in illegal activities, and seriously exploits, lies to its employees.
There is a current case of a Schwans Rt Mngr sexually assaulting a customer, and incredible as it is, Schwans Management sexually assaulting employees.
Schwans is a discpicable company, and I strongly suggest not buying from there and tell others to do the same. Also, do not work for this company, and advise others to do the same. Don’t support tyrants.
